Basic Emergency Care Course (BEC)

Countries: Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia

In response to the need to train emergency care providers in the low-resource context, AFEM has collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) to pilot the Basic Emergency Care course (BEC): a five-day short course targeting clinical providers who have no formal training in emergency care, but are regularly exposed to medical emergencies. The course, which provides foundational knowledge in emergency care for a broad range of clinical providers, has been successfully piloted in three African countries thus far: Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
